Margaret Ann Garrett is a portrait and figurative artist who divides her time between Atlanta, Georgia, and Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She has had a lifelong interest in fine art, and graduated from Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida, with a major in graphic design and illustration.
The majority of her working career was spent in advertising and design. Since leaving that world behind several years ago, Margaret Ann has focused on building foundational drawing and painting skills by working from life, and by studying with contemporary realist artists in workshops and extended study sessions. Most recently, she studied figure drawing with Ted Seth Jacobs in France (summer 2014), and painting with Michelle Tully of Studio Escalier in France (spring 2016), and through online Zoom sessions in 2020, 2021, and 2022—as well as workshops with various artists in the US.
She recently completed a two-year term as President (May 2021-May 2023 term) of the Portrait Society of Atlanta. The Portrait Society of Atlanta is a 501c3 organization founded in 1979.
