First day of the course was today. The first photo here is from outside my window this morning, looking over the river, a foggy mist with the sun breaking through. Class started about 9:30 with a demo this morning by David Baird. This afternoon we worked on color studies of the same pose—mine is the second photo in this series. It's about three hours of work, we'll pick up on this pose again tomorrow afternoon. The goal is not a 'finished' painting, but an understanding of how chroma, hue, and value define the form. The studio is natural light—and even though it changes throughout the day, I really, really like this as opposed to artificial light.
